Introducing the New LifeDb Post View: Built Around the Writer, Ready for Dark Mode

By LifeDb Team · · 3 min read

Every post on LifeDb starts with a person. Today we’re releasing a redesigned post page that puts that person up front, makes long reads more comfortable, and lets you switch to dark mode whenever your eyes ask for it.

What’s new at a glance

  • Author-first layout: the writer’s profile sits on the left, the story in the center, related posts on the right.
  • Dark mode: one tap in the header, remembered the next time you visit.
  • Cleaner reading: larger text, relaxed line spacing and consistent fonts, even for posts pasted from other apps.
  • Clearer sections: rounded cards with defined borders, so you always know where you are on the page.
  • A simpler header: just the LifeDb logo and a home link, so nothing competes with the post.

A view that builds your brand as a writer

Readers don’t just remember articles. They remember who wrote them. The new author card shows your photo, your name and your social links beside every post you publish, so a reader who enjoys one story can find you, follow you and come back for the next.

If you write regularly on LifeDb, this is your personal corner of every page. Add a short bio and your profile links, and the card does the introduction for you.

Dark mode, on your terms

The toggle in the header switches the post page between light and dark in one tap. On your first visit LifeDb follows your device setting. After that it remembers your choice on that browser, so reading late at night no longer means a bright white screen.

Easier to read, easier to scan

Posts now use a comfortable text size and generous line spacing, with headings that stand apart from the body. Related posts sit in their own column with clear dividers, so the next thing to read is always one tap away. On phones the order is simple: the story first, then the author, then more to read.

Made to be shared and found

Behind the scenes, every post now carries a proper title, summary and preview image, so links shared on WhatsApp, Facebook and X show up looking like the article they point to. Share buttons use one clean link for each post.

What this means for you

  • Readers get a calmer page and a mode that suits the time of day.
  • Writers get a visible profile on every post, with no extra work.
  • Everyone gets a page that works well on a phone and on a wide screen.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to change my old posts? No. Existing posts use the new view automatically.

Will dark mode apply to the whole site? Right now it applies to post pages. We plan to extend it to the rest of LifeDb.

How do I make my author card stronger? Update your profile photo, bio and social links in your account profile.
